Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Code Tools collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and services.
Information We Collect
We collect various types of information in connection with the services we provide, including:
- Usage data: Information about how you use our tools and services
- Technical data: Browser type, IP address, device information, and operating system
- Cookie data: Information stored by cookies and similar technologies
Use of Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our service and store certain information. Cookies help us improve your experience by remembering your preferences and settings.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to provide, maintain, and improve our services, understand how users interact with our tools, and ensure the security of our platform.
Third-Party Services
We may employ third-party companies and services to facilitate our service, provide service-related services, or assist us in analyzing how our service is used. These third parties have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf.
Data Security
The security of your data is important to us. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, update, or delete your information at any time. If you have any questions about our privacy practices, please contact us.
Extension Privacy
Our Code Tools browser extension is designed to be a fully local tool. It does not have a remote backend and does not include any analytics or telemetry of its own.
All extension settings (such as your password-generator preferences or per-origin opt-outs for the JSON formatter) are stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage. We do not have access to that data.
Why each permission is requested
The extension requests only the permissions strictly needed to make each bundled tool work:
- storage — remembers your in-extension settings between sessions, on your device only.
- browsingData — used by the Clear Cache tool to wipe cache/cookies/storage scoped to the active tab's origin.
- tabs — reads the active tab's URL so each tool runs against the correct origin.
- scripting — injects the JSON Formatter view into raw-JSON pages on demand.
- clipboardWrite — supports one-click copy for generated passwords and formatted JSON.
- cookies — required by the Cookie Editor to read and modify cookies for the active tab.
For a full feature breakdown see the extension page. The extension does not send any of your data to us or any third party.
